Accommodation

Starting your studies can mean big changes in life, and many see it as a fresh start. For many, this fresh start also means moving away from home for the first time — a major step in life that can feel a little scary. That’s why we’ve put together a small guide on how you, as a future student, can find housing. Of course, there are different ways to find a place to live, and as a future student you generally have three options. The first and most common option is to live in student housing. These accommodations come in various sizes and layouts to suit students in the best possible way. Student housing is often considered a bit expensive, but in most cases, they are rent-free during the summer months of June and July. Electricity, heating, water, TV, and internet are usually included as standard, and they are generally located close to the university. It’s a good idea to sign up for the housing queue as early as possible to collect enough points for an apartment.

At the beginning of each semester, corridor rooms from Studentbostäder are reserved for newly admitted students.

But what is a corridor room? A student corridor typically consists of about nine individual rooms plus a shared kitchen and living room. The private student rooms are usually around 20 square meters, each with its own bathroom and shower. They are fairly simple in design, but if you don’t mind decorating, you can make them really cozy. Some corridor rooms are already furnished, often including a desk, bookshelf, chair, armchair, and bed.
